live oaks and palmetto trees which cover the island. Salt marshes, beaches
and lagoons remain in pristine condition across the island. While modern
conveniences such as shopping malls and five star hotels are widely
available; care has been taken to blend these structures into the native
ecology as much as possible.
Nags Head
- A Perfect Oceanside Getaway That Is Rich In History
Nags Head has grown into a summer resort area and has some of the best
beach recreation on the North Carolina Coast. The name of the town has
many tales associated with it. The most popular is the story that pirates
would tie lanterns to the necks of their horses or nags, and walk them
on the beach at night. The ship captains, thinking this was a safe opportunity
to rob the ships. This is a far cry from Nags Head's attraction today.
Once a remote area, Nags Head now has accomodations ranging from classic,
old timey cottages to oceanfront vacation homes. Other options include
cozy cottages, quaint bed and breakfasts, hotels and motels.

including Fort Lauderdale and Miami, I always advise them to try and make
some time to go down to the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys are the string
of islands just south of the Florida mainland and runs 120 miles from
end to end. Fort Lauderdale and Miami are fun but for a relaxing change
of pace, the Florida Keys is the place to be.
