Zihuatanejo - Information

Go to Zihuatanejo now before the word gets out. Still relatively unknown to large crowds, Zihuatanejo has the charm of old-fashioned, traditional Mexican culture. It was origintally a small village of fisherman. Zihuatenejo is now, of course, a popular sport fishing desitination.

Zihuatenejo has a well protected bay with peaceful clear waters. Snorkeling here is above average, especially for the Pacific side of Mexico. Jock Cousteua spent a few years in Zihuatenejo. Also offered are other common tourist activities such as parasailing and banana boat rides. The beach is sprinkled with great restaurants as well.

The "downtown" portion of Zihuatenejo (El Centro) has streets made of paving stones. The locals here are very friendly and hospitable.
